Stirling railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Joondalup line, nine kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of Stirling.

1History

History[edit]

Stirling station opened on 28 February 1993 in the median strip of the Mitchell Freeway.^[1]^[2]^[3]

A pair of crossovers link the two mainline tracks at the Perth end of the station, allowing the turnback of train services in the event of a disruption in either direction.^[4]

Traffic issues[edit]

The station's location presented some interesting design challenges - while the station resides within the Mitchell Freeway road reserve, the road reserve for the future Stephenson Highway runs in an area directly over the station at the southern end of its platforms. During the design of the station and its approach roads, the engineering firm Ove Arup & Partners was tasked with investigating and designing road layouts to accommodate for both future and current needs.^[5]

Due to the nature of the future Stephenson Highway, a number of road layout options were considered including:^[5]

Original designs first proposed for the freeway by the Main Roads Department, consisting of a diamond interchange between Scarborough Beach Road and Stephenson Highway, and link of existing Oswald Street (later known as Ellen Stirling Boulevard), Osborne Park.
As per the above option, but without the Osborne Park link.

Although the house needs to win a lot in blackjack to get ahead, the differences between payout odds and probabilities of card play create the edge. In any gambling game, if there is a statistical 50-50 chance of a certain outcome, the house will pay less than 1:1 on the odds.

The only other probability players need to care about is the probability that the next card they are dealt helps them. How many people are playing at your table doesn’t matter. What matters is what’s left in the shoe when it’s your turn for a card.

2 – The Number of Hands You Play per Hour Matters

If you’re playing head to head with the dealer, you can go through as many as 200 hands in an hour. If there are four other people at the table with you then each round takes longer. You’ll play fewer hands per hour.

Converting a percentage into odds:

25%: 100 / 25 = 4. Then 4 – 1 = 3, giving 3-to-1 odds.
20%: 100 / 20 = 5. Then 5 – 1 = 4, giving 4-to-1 odds.

Another method of converting percentage into odds is to divide the percentage chance when you don’t hit by the percentage when you do hit. For example, with a 20% chance of hitting (such as in a flush draw) we would do the following; 80% / 20% = 4, thus 4-to-1. Here are some other examples:

25% chance = 75 / 25 = 3 (thus, 3-to-1 odds).
30% chance = 70 / 30 = 2.33 (thus, 2.33-to-1 odds).

Some people are more comfortable working with percentages rather than odds, and vice versa. What’s most important is that you fully understand how odds work, because now we’re going to apply this knowledge of odds to the game of poker.

There are 15 outs when you have both a straight and flush draw. Anti-Outs and Blockers

There are outs that will improve your hand but won’t help you win. For example, suppose you hold on a flop of . You’re drawing to a straight and any two or any seven will help you make it. However, the flop also contains two hearts, so if you hit the or the you will have a straight, but could be losing to a flush. So from 8 possible outs you really only have 6 good outs.

It’s generally better to err on the side of caution when assessing your possible outs. Don’t fall into the trap of assuming that all your outs will help you. Some won’t, and they should be discounted from the equation. There are good outs, no-so good outs, and anti-outs. Keep this in mind.

Poker players have fought for legalized poker for years, whether in Texas online poker rooms or in brick-and-mortar establishments. In 2012-2013, Senator Rodney Ellis introduced casino bills that included the legalization of poker, but Ellis received no support from his fellow lamwakers.

Since then, Texan entrepreneurs took the initiative. Private poker clubs have popped up around Texas, mostly in large cities like Houston and Dallas. Players don’t pay a rake or tournament fees. Instead, they pay membership or entrance fee, similar to a country club. The clubs make money from membership fees, seat rental fees, and food and beverage sales.

Poker clubs operate in a grey area. Local law enforcement shut down some poker clubs, but some in other towns remain open and assert their rights legally. A court ruling might decide the law, as the legislature won’t legalize Texas poker anytime soon.

AG Ken Paxton Dithers on Live Poker Rooms

The most recent news out of Texas is that Attorney General Ken Paxton will not be issuing any type of decision regarding the live poker rooms. State Representative Geanie Morrison formally asked Paxton if poker rooms that charge membership fees but don’t charge rake permitted are legal. Paxton officially refused to answer. A spokesperson for his office said that it is a legal matter being litigated in the courts, so courts should resolve the issue.

In 2018, Attorney General Ken Paxton said he would not issue any type of decision regarding the live poker rooms. State Representative Geanie Morrison formally asked Paxton if poker rooms that charge membership fees — but don’t charge rake — are permitted under the current law. Many state lawmakers have been asking the same question, but Paxton officially refused to answer. A spokesperson for his office said that the courts should resolve the issue.

Texas Poker Clubs – A Legal Gray Area

Poker clubs around Texas continued to operate as usual until May 1, 2019.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Houston Police Department coordinated to raid the two largest poker clubs in Houston on May 1. Nine owners and managers from the Post Oak Poker Club and Prime Social Poker Club were arrested and charged with money laundering as a part of engaging in organized crime activities. The two clubs’ bank accounts were also frozen and all funds seized. District Attorney Kim Ogg said, “Poker rooms are illegal in the state of Texas.”

Interestingly, however, all charges were dropped in July. All money was returned. The DA’s office commented that the dismissal of charges was the result of “multiple potential conflicts of interest” within her office. It seems that a contract employee of her office also worked for a law firm that tried to extort money from the two poker clubs while conducting an investigation of them. Said law firm – Jones Walker – then became the target of a lawsuit by Prime Social in early September.

Latest Texas Sports Betting Bills

Texas Rep. Eduardo Lucio introduced Texas House Bill 1275 and Texas House Joint Resolution 61 to the House in February 2019. HR 1275 would regulate land-based sports betting and impose a 6.25% tax. HRJ 61 would let Texans vote on a constitutional amendment to legalize sportsbooks through a statewide vote.

A combination is similar to a permutation but doesn’t account for the order. Since there are 6 possible ways of arranging three cards, we can simply divide our number of permutations (117,600) by 6 to establish the number of possible three-card combinations on the flop.
117,600 / 6 = 19,600 possible combinations of three cards on the flop (given two cards are known)
In other words, there are 19,600 different possible sets of three cards that may fall on the flop given that our two hole cards are already known.
Guess what?
To make the exact Straight Flush in question, only one of these 19,600 combinations will do the job.
Armed with that information, we can now establish a range of different probabilities.
Odds of flopping the Straight Flush with A2s = 1/19,600 = 0.00005 or roughly 0.005%
That’s an insanely small likelihood!
Thankfully, the odds with different types of starting hands are usually a little better.

The park has about 12 pull-thru sites. We are 65' long and fit. The park is nice and quite. When you come in you stay to the right and It's in the back of the Casino. Didn't see anyone parking in parking area at Hollywood but there is a huge space across the road at Sam's Town Casino and there were several RV's parked there. Sam's Town also has a RV park and it says it starts at $19.99 a night. We paid $24 at Hollywood not the $41 that it says. We drove thru Sam's Town RV park and it is also a nice park. There is one pull-thru up by the bathrooms and that is the spot we got so we were able to use wifi. Not sure how strong it is down where the other pull-thrus are. We ate at the lunch buffet, it was just ok.

I'll date this Late March 2016. Within Eyesight: Resorts-Free Dry Camping, Hollywood: RV Park is $41/night, Hollywood: I dry camped in the parking lot next to another Class A and the Casino did not care (I asked). Sam's Town RV Park: NOT CLOSED, in fact they have a large sign RV PARKING STARTING AT $19.99 NIGHT. Also Sam's Town had Dry Campers, and 18 Wheelers in the Parking lot (I assume for free)

This is a well done facility. We stayed three nights in June 2015. Check in is at the front desk and must be done before occupying a space. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful and advised us to get a players card which would get us 55 cent breakfast buffets and comps on campground. The campground is full service E/W/S and well spaced. There is a special handicap area and both pull thru and back ins. A number of the back ins have a covered table area. We were in a 45' MH in a pull thru with plenty of room for the car also.
Homesteading is not allowed.
If visiting Memphis and not concerned with a 35/40 minute drive I would recommend this to be the place to stay.

My wife and I found this RV location by luck back in August of 2012.
We took a fast trip from California to Kentucky and on our way back we wanted to stop at Sams Town as I remembered from a few years back they had an RV Park but when we got there it was closed the RV Park, So we went across the street and followed the signs to Hollywood Casino RV Park.
I parked at the park but had to walk all the way inside the casino to the front dest to check in.I was givin a code for the door to enter the Casino from the side great for a late night walk.
The food choices sucked as the nice steak house was closed and we dont eat at buffets and the burger cafe food was just that.We could not find the steak house and had to ask security.
Gambling sucked so we walked to the place next door and the whole walkway was covered and lighted, heck it was even a romantic walk as it was a warm August evening, ok getting off subject.
Anyways that was a better casino to gamble.
Getting back to the RV Park it was well worth the few bucks and i am glad we found it.
I think the economy has hit these casinos hard and that is why so many have changed there services, from free drinks at the bar to RV Parks being closed, to having to walk a mile to check in and not at the RV Office.

Hollywood Casino RV park is a friendly and enjoyable place to stay. The bath house/laundry area is new, and very luxurious for a RV park. Just a few more items to add to the other posts:
* The newspaper is not “really” free. You are being charged for it daily. It is up to you to pick it up, or you can refuse the charge and not pick it up also;
* Very limited pull-thru sites. If you require one, the best thing to do is call and reserve a spot prior to arrival;
* Wireless internet was free and reliable;
* Propane is sold at a very reasonable price;
* Pool (with small water slide) and hot tub area is open to RV park residents, but you need to get a pass car
